Hitch to develop violence reduction campaign

Hitch Marketing appointed to work with young people to develop ambitious serious violence reduction campaign

Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) have selected Hitch Marketing to deliver a campaign focussed on promoting positive messaging, peace and cohesion amongst the city-region’s young people.

Starting in July 2020 and running over a period of 14 months, the campaign will be aimed at 10-17 year olds across the ten boroughs. 

Hitch will work directly with Greater Manchester Youth Combined Authority (GMYCA), young people living in Greater Manchester, parents, and communities, to harness and amplify their insight and leadership to make a positive social impact.

The campaign is part of a multi-million-pound investment to tackle serious violence across the city-region, led by Greater Manchester’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), which brings together health, police and criminal justice, education, youth justice, and the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.

Members of the GMYCA have been involved in the appointment process, to ensure the campaign is truly co-created with young people and makes a difference to their lives.

Amaan Iqbal from the GMYCA said: “Young people can turn to violence for many reasons – there isn’t one problem and one solution, and they need support to stop them taking that path. I am really looking forward to working with Hitch to help shape the campaign and ensure it’s something that makes a difference to young people.”
